Natural Beeswax Paste, 2 oz

I was a loyal user of Mister Pompadour's Natural Beeswax Paste for years. The original formula (and even the slightly more pliable update from a while back) was excellent—great hold, natural matte finish, premium feel, and a scent/texture that set it apart from cheaper drugstore pastes. It was my go-to product, and I even had a subscription.

Recently, I received new jars through my subscription and noticed immediately that something was wrong. The product inside has a completely different smell, texture, consistency, and performance—it's much closer to the cheap, generic hair pastes I've tried in the past. It lacks the premium quality I loved, feels inferior in application and hold, and honestly performs more like Hair Dough (which I already prefer over this new version).

I reached out directly to Matt/the team via email to ask what happened—politely explaining the differences, expressing my disappointment, and asking if it was a mistake or a formula change (and why no one was informed). I chose email over a public review in case it was just a bad batch or shipping error.

That was two weeks ago. I received zero response—no acknowledgment, no explanation, nothing.

This is a significant downgrade, and shipping the new formula without any notice to subscribers or customers feels deceptive. A change this noticeable should come with transparency (e.g., updated labeling, an email blast, or at least a heads-up on the site). I won't be renewing my subscription, and I wish I could return these jars.

If you're considering this product based on older reviews, be aware: the current version is not the same as what built the brand's reputation. Very disappointed in both the product change and the complete lack of customer service follow-up.

WHY ON EARTH would you change the formula!? You had the BEST product on the market. Nothing came close to how good this product was and how good of hold, texture it had and you changed it. I've been using this product for 10+ years now and I'm so disappointed with this change.

If you are looking for the original the new formula is not remotely close, it’s a completely different product, does not have the same texture, hold, or smell. It’s infinitely worse and so different it should be a crime to sell this under the same name. The warning against purchasing goes beyond the horrible quality of the product, customer service is non-existent and you will never get a refund for the product if you do purchase and return.

Was excited to see that the product was back in stock so I purchased 3 only to be met with this monstrosity of a product. I thought maybe one went bad because I saw gray, only to realize that they were all gray slop. The product is easier to spread, however the hold compared to the previous (arguably perfect) product was much better and more consistent. Bring back the old!
